Privacy Policy

Quietly is a voice-only social app: you post short voice notes into topic rooms and reply with your voice. This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us run the app, and the choices you have. We wrote it to be read, so it is plain on purpose.
The short version
We collect your email address to sign you in, and the voice recordings and profile details you choose to post.
Your posts, replies, stories, display name, picture and bio are public inside the app. Your email address is not.
We don’t run ads, we don’t use advertising or analytics trackers, and we don’t sell your data.
You can delete any post, or your whole account, inside the app at any time.
What we collect
Email addressTo create your account and send you a one-time sign-in code.Only us and the email provider that delivers your code. Not shown to other users.
Display nameSo people know who posted. It is set automatically from the part of your email address before the “@”.Everyone using Quietly.
Profile picture and bioYour profile. The picture is one of the preset images in the app. The bio (up to 150 characters) is optional.Everyone using Quietly.

Likes, follows and blocksTo show like counts, build your feed and follower lists, and let you block people.Likes and follows are visible as counts and lists. Who you have blocked is private to you.
ReportsWhen you report a post, we record which post, that it was you, and the reason, so we can review it.Only us.
Notification detailsA device token so we can send you a notification when someone replies to your post or follows you, and a record of which replies you have already seen.Only us and Google, which delivers notifications.
Basic technical dataLike any online service, our hosting providers process things like your IP address and request logs when the app connects, to keep the service running and secure.Only us and our providers.
We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, or files, and we do not record audio in the background. The microphone is only used while you are recording a post, reply or story.
App permissions
Microphone — to record voice posts, replies and stories. Recording starts only when you tap the record button.
Notifications — optional. Used for replies to your posts and new followers. You can turn them off in your phone’s settings.
Internet access — the app needs a connection to load posts and upload your recordings.
What is public
Quietly is a public space. Anything you post — recordings, replies, stories, your display name, picture and bio — can be heard or seen by other people using the app. Recordings are stored at a web address that can be opened without signing in, and if someone shares a post outside the app, anyone with that link can play it. Think before you post something you would not want others to hear.
Keeping the community safe
You can report any post and block any user from inside the app. We review reports and may remove content or suspend accounts that break our community rules. Blocking someone hides your posts from each other and removes any follow between you.
How long we keep your data
We keep your account and content for as long as your account exists.
Stories disappear from the app after 24 hours.
When you delete a post, it is removed from the app and our database, along with its replies, likes and reports.
When you delete your account, everything tied to it is removed — see below.
The audio file for a deleted post or account is removed from our file storage as part of clean-up. Until that happens, the file can’t be found through the app, but someone who already had its direct link may still be able to open it.
Our providers may keep routine backups for a short period after deletion.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account yourself, at any time, without contacting us:
Open Quietly and go to the Profile tab.
Tap the settings icon (top right).
Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
Type DELETE to confirm.
This permanently deletes your profile, display name, bio, posts, replies, stories, likes, follows, blocks, notification settings, and the reports you filed. It can’t be undone.
If you can’t open the app (for example, you uninstalled it), email simple2codepp@gmail.com from the address you signed up with, with the subject “Delete my account”. We will delete your account and its data within 30 days.
Your choices and rights
You can view and edit your bio and profile picture in the app, delete your posts, and delete your account as described above. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to object to how we use it, or to have it erased. To use any of these, email us at the address below and we will respond within 30 days.
Security
Sign-in uses one-time codes sent to your email, so there is no password to steal. Data is sent over encrypted connections, and access to our database is restricted by access rules so users can only change their own content. No system is perfectly secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.
Children
Quietly is not for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 16 has an account, email us and we will delete it.
Where your data is processed
Our database is in Japan, and our other providers may process data in other countries, including the United States. By using Quietly you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than where you live.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will update the date at the top and, where appropriate, tell you in the app. Continuing to use Quietly after a change means you accept the updated policy.
