The Block diagram of a computer mainly consists of CPU, Input device, an Output device. In Computer block diagram CPU is divided into two parts that are Arithmetic & Logic Unit (ALU) and Control Unit (CU).
In the above Block diagram, ALU (Arithmetic & Logic Unit ) and CU (Control Unit) Combinely called as CPU (Central Processing Unit).

Central Processing Unit (CPU)
Central Processing Unit is also known as CPU, in other words, the CPU is the brain of a Computer System. All major Arithmetic and logical Calculation are done in the CPU. The CPU is divided into two parts Control Unit and Arithmetic unit.
Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU)
Arithmetic Logic Unit performs all arithmetic tasks like Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division, Logic, and Comparison.
The control unit of a processor performs two tasks:
- It causes the processor to step through a series of micro-operations in the proper sequence, based on the program being executed.
- It generates the control signals that cause each micro-operation to be executed.
The memory unit is the storage unit of a Computer System. In the memory unit, all data of that computer system is stored.
It stores all the instruction which entered through the Input unit where they are available for processing.
It holds the instruction to execute in memory.
There are mainly two types of Memory unit :
Primary memory: It is volatile storage. It mainly consists of RAM(random access memory) and Cache memory.
Secondary memory: it is non-volatile storage. It mainly consists of ROM(read-only memory), hard disk, etc.
The computer works on different Information or data. The computer system is an electronic device that takes input through the Input unit, stores the data. And do all logical and Arithmetic operations and Give us the Output from the Output Unit in the desired format.
